Georgetown Secondary School – volleyball Champs

The SVG Volleyball Association recently concluded the 2009 Youth Volleyball Festival.  8 teams participated in this competition  in 2 divisions, Male and Female.

The female category was won by Georgetown Secondary School with the George Stevens Secondary placing 2nd.

In the Male Category, again, the Georgetown Secondary school claimed the championship, defeating the George Stevens Secondary school.

The prize giving ceremony was held on Saturday 20th June 2009 at the Girl’s High School hard court to distribute awards for the competition and also for the 20098 Firms and Industrial competition held earlier this year.

Participants at the Level 1 Coaching Program

The importance of Volleyball in the Community is most significance in order for the establishment of clubs and teams; henceforth-key rural areas that once had the sport of volleyball played there were targeted. It was decided that 3-week programmes would be used to introduce and identify potential players of the sport and also ignite the drive for the community to continue playing after the cycle for the programme has been completed.
