SVGOC Hosts CANOC CCCP Review
The SVGOC-CGA will play host to the latest review of the CANOC Caribbean Coaches’ Certification Programme (CCCP) during the period 12 – 13 July 2019. This activity takes place at Olympic House, headquarters of the SVGOC.
Participants are:
Dave Farmer – CCCP Regional Coordinator (Barbados)
Anthony Marcano – TTO
Chester Morgan – VIN, Theon Gordon – VIN, Chantel Legair – VIN
Messrs Angel Morales (ISV) and Conrad Francis (GRN) are unable to attend due to urgent matters that have arisen.
Following the conclusion of the review the new documents would be prepared for circulation.
Olympic House expansion plans
The first phase of the drawings for the expansion of Olympic House has been submitted. These were initially presented to the SVGOC Executive for review and were then returned to the architects.
The final plans are expected soon and work can commence shortly thereafter.
Gymnastics Gymnastics to host Carifta 2020
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Gymnastics Association has won the rights to host the Carifta Gymnastics Championships in April 2020. This decision was recently taken at a meeting of the regional body.
Pan American Gymnastics
The SVG Gymnastics Association will be in attendance in Lima attending the Congress of the Pan American body governing the sport.
Two of the Vincentian delegates are vying for positions on the continental body.

Athletics Roban continues to mount podiums
Handal Roban continued to impress with his latest medal coming in the 800m at the Inaugural North American, Central American and Caribbean Area Association’s (NACAC) U-18 Championships that took place in Queretaro, Mexico, during the period, 5 – 7 July.
Pan American Juniors
This weekend Roban will join Mikeisha Welcome in Costa Rica where they will compete in the Pan American Juniors. They are currently engaged in a one-week training camp prior to the start of the Championships.
Roban will contest the 800m in what is an U-20 competition for the entire Americas region, while Welcome will compete in the women’s Triple Jump.
Kahlil Cato is the team’s coach with Alexandra Walrond as Manager/Chaperone.
NACAC Age Group Championships
St Vincent and the Grenadines will have a representative team at the NACAC Age Group Championships (U-13 and U-15), scheduled for San Salvador, El Salvador, during the period, 26 – 27 July 2019. Rawlson Morgan is the team coach, with La Rissa John as Manager/Chaperone.
The athletes are:
• Diara Bascombe (Stephanie Browne Primary) U-13
• Riah Henson (SLSS) U-15
• Cody Bartley (SVGSS)
• Keanu Child (SVGS)
Volleyball Train the Trainers
A Volleyball 3-day Train the Trainers workshop was held during the period 2-4 July for personnel from the Department of Sports. Marlon Williams, Devon Williams and Jahmal Small facilitated the workshop.
Participants at the workshop are now better prepared to take the sport of volleyball into the schools and various communities.
