The latest edition of the Windward Islands School Games (WISG) has ended and the delegations are back to their respective homes. Importantly however, we must look to the future of these Games and the implications for us in the sub region.

Yesterday and today sport officials of the Ministry of Education played host to sport leaders of the respective Windward Islands Schools’ programmes. The two-day meeting saw the leaders reviewing the Windward Islands Schools Games (WISG) of 2016 held in Grenada and discussing the plans laid by the Vincentian Schools Games Committee (SGC).
It is almost a year since St Vincent and the Grenadines hosted the Windward Islands Schools Games, 26 July – 4 August, and the sub region is preparing for this year’s edition scheduled for St Lucia.
On the evening of Saturday 3 August 2013 the renditions of the respective national anthems of Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines coincided with the lowering of their flags, marking the official end to the Windward Islands Schools Games 2013 (WISG2013), which opened on 27 July.
Tomorrow, Saturday 3 August, would witness the final competitions and the official closing ceremonies of the Windward Islands Schools Games 2013, hosted here at home.
