On this International Women’s Day (IWD), 8 March 2026, the Gender Equity Commission of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee fully embraces the 2026 theme, “Give to Gain” and joins the international community in positively responding to the appeal to “help forge gender equality through abundant giving”. In a small nation like ours, progress happens when we give of ourselves – our ideas, our time, our mentorship, our support, education, in the service of others. We are therefore being challenged to forge a national mindset of “generosity and collaboration”, ultimately leading to better, wholesome families, schools, communities and societies.
In sport in St Vincent and the Grenadines we see the impact of giving in the journeys of Shafiqua Maloney, Scarlett Hadley and Mary-Ann Frederick, all of whom continue to represent SVG with excellence. Their success is built on communities that invested in them. Off the field, Samantha Lynch, Vasha Adams, Jenny Tremble and Kelisha Yorke, show what is possible when women are given a chance in leadership in different aspects of sport. When we give intentionally to women and girls in sport, we don’t lose anything. We multiply opportunity.
This year, we ask “What will you give to gain?” Whether it’s mentoring a young girl, advocating for fair representation, celebrating women’s achievements, developing pathways or creating space at the table, every act of support strengthens sport in SVG. When our girls and women thrive, our nation rises.
Happy International Women’s Day 2026!
The SVGOC extend Congratulations to the Women of Sport in St. Vincent and the Grenadines! 🇻🇨🏅
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee proudly celebrates the incredible women who continue to shape the future of sport in our nation.
In sport in St. Vincent and the Grenadines we see the impact of giving in the journeys of Shafiqua Maloney, Scarlett Hadley and Mary-Ann Frederick, all of whom continue to represent SVG with excellence. Their success is built on communities that invested in them — coaches, families, mentors and supporters who believed in their potential and helped them rise.
Beyond competition, the spirit of leadership shines brightly through Samantha Lynch, Vasha Adams, Jenny Trumble and Kelisha Yorke, who demonstrate what is possible when women are given opportunities to lead and contribute in different aspects of sport. Their dedication, vision and commitment are strengthening the sporting landscape of our country.
Today we celebrate not only achievement, but the power of investment, opportunity and belief.
When we give intentionally to women and girls in sport, we do not lose anything — we multiply opportunity. We build stronger athletes, stronger leaders and a stronger St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Let us continue to support, uplift and empower the women and girls who are driving sport forward and inspiring the next generation.
Congratulations and thank you for making our nation proud. 🌟🏆
