Celebrating Calvert Woods

Calvert’s capacity for friendship remains perhaps his single most enduring legacy.
He made friends quite easily and remained fiercely loyal.
Calvert’s friendship circle extended well beyond the realm of sport and the borders of St Vincent and the Grenadines. It was always most accommodating and expansive, almost without limit.
Team Athletics St Vincent and the Grenadines has already designated its annual award for the Most Promising Athlete of the Year, The Calvert Woods Award, in tribute to Calvert’s brief yet remarkable contribution to athletics in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The National Olympic Academy has also agreed to designate awards and activities in his honour as part of its ongoing tribute to Calvert.
The local and regional Teachers’ Unions may well recall Calvert’s contribution to their cause.
The students he taught, the staff with whom he worked and the friends he made, will all have reason enough to remember him.
The sports fraternity of St Vincent and the Grenadines, particularly the Athletic and Olympic fraternities, will forever savour the contribution of Calvert Woods.
Once more we all celebrate the brief time Calvert Woods spent with us, giving of himself with a generosity of spirit and selflessness that is today all too uncommon.
in our sports, Calvert lives, as much as he lives in our hearts and minds.
