World Athletics
Saturday, October 25, will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of the primary school children of Union Island as a day when they felt truly special — knowing that there are people who care about them and their holistic development as future leaders of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
A team of coaches from Team Athletics St. Vincent and the Grenadines, led by the organization’s National Coordinator of the Kids Athletics Program, hosted a Kids Athletics Festival on Union Island. The event brought together children from the Stephanie Browne Primary School, Mary Hutchinson Primary School, and the Union Island Secondary School. The principals of both primary schools attended and warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing their delight at seeing the tremendous joy and excitement it brought to the participating children.
Team Athletics St. Vincent and the Grenadines partnered with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee to bring the Union Island Kids Athletics Festival to life. Both organizations shared the belief that sport has the power to heal and unite, making it the perfect way to bring children, teachers, and parents together to play, learn, and grow. Through fun and engaging activities built around the fundamentals of running, jumping, and throwing — the essential starting points of athletics — the festival highlighted the sport that has brought St. Vincent and the Grenadines more international and continental success than any other.
