Mitchell re-elected Bball President

Sabrina Mitchell was re-elected un-opposed as President of the local Bequia Basketball Association to serve another two year term from 2012 to 2014.

 

Mitchell also serves on the Caribbean Basketball Confederation Executive as Secretary General and is a Central Board member on the FIBA Americas Executive. She is also a Board member of Adonal Foyle’s Kerosene Lamp Foundation.

The Bequia Basketball Association held its Annual General Meeting and Elections on Wednesday May 16th at the Bequia District Council in Port Elizabeth. Thirty persons, representing fifteen teams were present for the meeting, whose agenda included presentation of the financial statements for the last fiscal year, reports on the past year, and discussions and preparations for the upcoming 14th Annual Championship, scheduled for July 14th to September 2nd, 2012.

Former Games Secretary Cornelius Farrell was elected un-opposed as Vice President; newcomer Vanessa Browne as General Secretary and Colson Peters was re-elected un-opposed as Treasurer. Michael Peniston took up the all-important Games Secretary position, while teacher Anthony Sargeant filled the position of Assistant Secretary- Treasurer. Monica Peters was re-elected unopposed as PRO. Mark Hutchins was selected as the Players’ Representative. Shem Ollivierre, Keithroy Lavia and Kelan Edwards were selected Committee members.

Bequia Basketball currently has 180 registered players, 72 of whom are in the Under 16 Category. The Tournament opens on Saturday July 14 at 6pm!
