Ms.Loukhya Premraj left St. Vincent to travel to Guatemala on Friday, 5th September 2025.
This is to represent, for her first time and the first time for our country, at the PanAm U11/U13 Championships between the 7th and 10th September 2025. In the Girls U13 Singles event, “this also being her last chance to do so”. Usually, one would need to go to another event to qualify to take part in this event. However, this year, we were allowed to go directly to the event due to certain circumstances.
This was made possible with the support of her parents, both financially and otherwise, and a contribution from the National Olympic Committee through an application from the SVGTTA.
It goes a long way when the parents of an athlete gets involved in contributing on a large scale or any scale at all to their kid(s) development, especially in sports. It motivates them, increases their development speed, promotes a healthy athlete mindset and in this case creates high-level opportunities, where that athlete can make a mark.
Now, this is an ideal example of parents’ contribution to sports, and it doesn’t need to be only table tennis; all parents in any sport should get more involved in their child’s development, as it can only benefit them. Her matches starts on Monday, 8th September 2025.
