The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Association staged two exhilarating days of racing on Wednesday and Thursday at its High Performance Centre on Canash Beach.
Blessed with near-perfect conditions and steady 12-knot trade winds, 22 sailors from St. Vincent, Bequia, Mayreau, and Union Island went head-to-head in pursuit of the SVG 2025 National Championship title.
Racers in the ILCA 6, ILCA 4, and Optimist classes completed a full slate of 12 races each. Every contest was fiercely competitive, highlighting the skill, grit, and sportsmanship of the fleet.
The event not only underscored the depth of SVG’s young sailing talent but also showcased the growing strength and promise of youth sailing across the nation.
ILCA 6: Kai Marks Dasent delivered a commanding performance, winning 8 of the 12 races to secure the overall title. His consistency and tactical sharpness set him apart from the fleet.
ILCA 4: Joshua Weinhardt dominated his class, taking first place in 7 races to claim the championship. His strong boat handling and smart race strategies proved decisive across the series.
Optimist: In the Optimist division, Keyron Harris rose to the occasion, capturing 6 race wins on his way to overall victory. His focus and determination over the two days earned him well-deserved top honours.
